Dining In & Near Sandbridge, Virginia Beach You Cannot Miss
Margie and Ray's Crabhouse and Restaurant ($$)
One of my personal favorites in the area for steamed blue crab is Margie and Ray’s Crabhouse and Restaurant. It’s rustic and simple, and there’s always a local catch of the day offered at a great price. Unlike the more upscale destinations in Norfolk, I find this location to offer more downhome, local options with bigger portions.
Sandbridge Island Restaurant ($$)
When you’re walking along the water and want a fast lunch, check out Sandbridge Island Restaurant. Again, it’s small and locally owned, the type of old-school location you know is going to have the best food possible. Fried seafood, pizza, fries, and more are all made to order. It’s an excellent long-time beachfront eatery.
Blue Seafood & Spirits ($$$)
More elevated and elegant, with some exceptional food (you have to try the chocolate bread pudding for dessert), Blue Seafood & Spirits is also an excellent date-night location. You don’t need a reservation, and the local beer and cocktail menu is perfect for after work, meeting friends, or relaxing on the weekend.
Baja Restaurant ($$)
The surf and turf, coupled with the music, patio seating with waterfront views, and exceptional quality food, make Baja Restaurant a fantastic choice. You can count on the food to be fresh and full of flavor, and, in case you plan to host an event, they have a beautiful patio area you can reserve.
Jose Tequilas Mexican Grill and Bar ($$)
Another very affordable location with authentic, freshly made cuisine is Jose Tequilas Mexican Grill and Bar. This is a family-owned location, but they offer the big, bold flavors that you would expect from a lavish restaurant in Mexico. Another recommendation here is that if you’re hosting a group of people, consider the catering from this location.
Blue Pete's Restaurant ($$)
Located in the Pungo historic area, it’s well worth a reservation to visit Blue Pete’s Restaurant. I particularly love those waterfront views and have attended a couple of private events here. It’s just 10 minutes from the beach and is a local favorite. This is also a good location for those looking for brunch with some friends.
Simply Steamed ($$)
Simple is really a great name for this popular location. Simply Steamed has some great local seafood that’s served properly prepared like the locals do. From the lobster rolls to the fish tacos, you’ll find everything is incredibly full of flavor and made with care. This location is seasonal, though, but they do offer some great holiday pies well into the season.

When you move to Sandbridge, Virginia Beach, you’re stepping away from the busy lifestyle, but there are some great shopping destinations nearby, including easy access to numerous shopping destinations throughout Virginia Beach and North Carolina. Here are some of the closer destinations I recommend.
Red Mill Commons Shopping Center
It’s about 10 minutes from the boardwalk area and offers just about everything you need. Red Mill Commons Shopping Center is home to national restaurants Red Robin and Buffalo Wild Wings to big stores like Target, TJ Maxx, and Home Depot. There’s also a Super Walmart here. A total of about 80 locations exist.
Sandbridge Seaside Market
If you are looking for a true grocery store, check out Harris Teeter on Princess Anne Road. Noted for its deli and bakery, I also like to shop for health products here because it tends to be a bit more affordable.

False Cape State Park
This huge, 4,300-acre state park is on the Currituck Banks Peninsula and is a full mile wide area between the Atlantic Ocean and the Back Bay. It’s nature at its best with the sand dunes and hiking along the water. False Cape State Park is undeveloped and one of the few areas along the Atlantic Ocean in the United States of America that is still protected. It’s home to the Wash Woods community and the Little Island Coast Guard Station as well.
Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge
The Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, located to the south of Sandbridge itself, is a rather isolated area in Princess Anne County. It is the best place for watching birds and exploring a diverse beachfront area. You can hike, bike, and take photographs here.
Sandbridge Fishing Pier
If you enjoy fishing, the Sandbridge Fishing Pier. It’s also the perfect place to capture the sunset (or sunrise if you’re an early riser!) It’s open 24 hours a day, too, so for those who want to get up and see what’s biting early in the day, you can do that here.

The housing market in Sandbridge is somewhat competitive. I really feel like there are some great opportunities here for those looking for oceanfront property. Here are some key specs.
The median sale price of a home in Sandbridge was $966,000 last month, which is a decrease of 16.5% compared to the previous year, and the overall price per square foot was $406. It takes about 28 days for a home to sell right now, so you have to act somewhat quickly if you find your dream property.

Another nice benefit for many of my clients is finding the right type of home for their needs. You can find homes that provide direct waterfront access to Back Bay and others along the Atlantic Ocean coastline. Also notable is that there are some smaller neighborhoods with tree-lined streets where you can easily wave to your neighbor in the morning. While single-family homes are popular, condos are available, too, many with excellent upgrades like granite countertops and open floor plans.

There are about 46 rentals in Sandbridge, with prices ranging from $1.8K to $10.5K per month. This provides an opportunity for investors looking to purchase properties for rental income.
